The quality of life lies in the quality of your day. This perspective makes life manageable. It is easier to work on one day at a time and all the small incremental changes that you bring about add to your life as a whole.

When things becomes overwhelming then the best thing to do is to take one day at a time, sometimes one hour and maybe even one minute. And then you can move forward. But do it with responsibility and do it with courage and in doing so you will, at least, not betray your former self. This is important because along with self-discipline you must learn to be kind to yourself. If YOU won’t be, who will?

Show yourself the way forward with kindness and patience. Do one thing that needs to be done: make your bed, clean a drawer, do the washing, make a healthy meal and, suddenly, taking responsibility for yourself will give meaning to your life. Next, maybe you can be help a parent or a sibling or a friend or a neighbor.

Remember, as you deal with stress, consciously, you evolve. For me, every time there is a stressful situation that I have to deal with, I think to myself: WOW!! Another opportunity to grow and learn something. So learn something new everyday- anything. And get off that phone. Put it on airplane mode and hide it…the world will not end but yes, you might just end that foul mood you have been in lately. Get up and stretch and take responsibility for the mess you are in. Then do something about it!

For we are not here to be happy all the time, we are here to take responsibility and that will add meaning to our lives. Life is tough as it is…it is hard and vicious and having courage makes it bearable and maybe then you can make a difference! And that would be truly fantastic. That would be a life lived well. So have courage my heart …and take responsibility..start with yourself.
